


George Washington Cotten passed away on January 30, 2025. George was Barbara Bookard's loving husband.
Born on February 15, 1950, in Chatham County, NC, he was the son of the late Henry Cotten and Marian Snipes Cotten.
George served his country dutifully in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a sergeant receiving many awards, including several Bronze Stars, the fourth-highest ranking award for a service member’s heroic or meritorious actions in an armed conflict. Once he returned home, George became a truck driver. George was a fun person to be around. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing, and playing cards.
In addition to his wife, he leaves fond memories to be cherished by his children: George Morris, Sheridan Taltoan (Zakia), Christina Cotten Gardea, Marcus Wise (Shanelle), Brenttyn Cooper (KateLynn), Kimberly Jones, Corey Cotten (Sara), Stephanie Leland (Steve); step children Geno, Tyneka, Arnold Middleton; his 18 grandchildren, Ajhanae, Mar kaisa, Aja, Marcus, Mar-Kai, Amari, Deonsae, Brynn, Lil John, Isaiah, Jasmine, Christian, Brayden, Noelani, Everleigh, Brentt Jr., Leonard, Carter; and 5 great-grandchildren, an uncle the Reverand Lloyd Snipes, and his beloved nieces, Dana Cotten Winkey and Myah Smith.
George was predeceased by a daughter, Dameeka Brickus Mobley, a sister Mary Cotten Smith, a brother William Cotten, 2 grandchildren Nathanial and Whitney,
and a cousin who was like a brother to him, Arthur “Red” Snipes.
A celebration of George’s life will be held on Friday February 7th, 2025 from 11AM-12:00 Noon at Judah Ministries 840 E. Chestnut St. Coatesville, PA 19320.
Burial will be held on Friday February 7th, 2025 at 2:30 PM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery 60 Indiantown Gap Rd. Annville, PA 17003.
