Marilyn McGinnis of Coatesville
Marilyn “Mel” McGinnis, 62, passed away on January 27, 2025. Born on January 25, 1963, in Philadelphia, PA, to Jose Rodriguez Berdecia and Asuncion Nieves. Marilyn has now reunited with her loving husband, Ralph "Butch" McGinnis III, who went to be with the Lord in 2017.
Marilyn was a loyal wife and a dedicated mother who cherished time spent with family and friends. Known for her vibrant spirit, she could often be found on the dance floor, her distinctive and contagious laugh lighting up the room. A proud fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, Marilyn’s enthusiasm for life was as unwavering as her love for those closest to her.
She is survived by her children: Marilyn "Mel" McGinnis, Teresa (Bennett) Donnell, and Ralph "Butchie" McGinnis IV; her beloved grandchildren: Jianna, Ralphie, Ezra, Aaliyah, and Zendaya; and her siblings: Betsy Sanchez, Hiram Berdecia, Jose "Alex" Berdecia, and Milagro Cintron. She was predeceased by her brother Edwin Berdecia.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m., at St. Peter's Catholic Church, located at 2835 Manor Rd., West Brandywine, PA. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Coatesville, PA. Arrangements are being handled by the Maclean-Chamberlain Funeral Home in Coatesville.
Marilyn’s warmth and laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those she leaves behind.
